I had the honor of meeting this spunky little gem, Adilynn by way of the Sundrop Society. Adilynn is a two year old who was born with Common Variable Immune Deficiency and adopted by her loving parents at birth. Adilynn receives weekly IVIG treatments where she receives plasma antibodies through IV to increase her health and immunity. Her mommy Laurie explained to me that it takes nearly 10,000 people to donate enough plasma for one of Adilynn’s treatments and that donating plasma is similar to donating blood but is a much longer process. One major physical milestone we celebrated in during Adilynn’s photo session is her ability to eat by mouth! This is such a basic ability we easily take for granted and one that Adilynn (and her parents) was over the moon excited about. Mom used Chex to reward Addy throughout the session (ahem, a trick I am NOT oppose to using) and it motivated her do exactly what we wanted her to do. Addy was a little bit apprehensive when she first arrived to the studio, but then again, most littles are when they enter a new environment. So, her mommy Laurie joined us for a few shots too. I was so happy when I earned Addy’s trust and was able to photograph her adorably scrunchy smile, even after hair and wardrobe changes. She was such a good sport! One of Addy’s loves is her pink boots which mom says she wears just about everywhere. Another one of her loves is the song, “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars – she was on fire when that song came on! This little girl has great taste if ya ask me!
