A beautiful thing happens around the end of May and beginning of June here in the Valley of the Sun. Palo Verde trees with thick, bright, green trunks and branches bloom immensely vivid, yellow flowers which eventually cover the grounds beneath them. It is a stunning site to see – and one of the things I especially love about living in my neighborhood because the streets are lined with dozens of these trees. It reminds me of when the leaves change colors in the north east in the fall, but southwest style. Naturally, its also one of my favorite times of year to photograph outdoors, despite the heat. I was especially excited to photograph the totally awesome and entertaining Henderson family during this time.
Dan and Courtney happen to be one of the most hilarious couples I know. Independently, they make me giggle, but together they seriously make my sides ache from laughing hysterically at nearly everything they say! When Courtney called to schedule their family’s session, I was elated because I knew our session would definitely be a blast. Big brother Ben led his little brother David throughout the entire photo session with great posing examples and his positive attitude despite the fact that the evening was a pretty warm one. After our photo session, we met up for delicious homemade Mexican ice pops at Paleta Betty . I have can’t remember the flavor of the ice pop I had but it was amazing and made with lavender. If you’re ever in the downtown Chandler area, you should check them out!
