Now booking Summer due dates
When you're juggling a million tasks, It can seem crazy to even think of squeezing in time for family portraits.
I totally get it. In the fog of new motherhood, the nights can seem incredibly long and the days can be a blur. And then as your children get older, you get carried away with life without thinking of properly documenting it. As a mother of a freshman in college, I can assure you, the years are incredibly short, so slow down, and make time to have the pictures taken now.
I'm sure you've pronounced my name a dozen different ways in your mind, but it's a lot simpler than you think. It's pronounced, “Ray-a”, like a ray-of-sunshine, easy right?
I am a wife, married to the most supportive, and encouraging husband, and life partner. Through the past 10 years of serving my clients in my photography business, he has seen my clients appreciate the value of what we create together. Behind the scenes, he does a lot of the heavy-lifting, and makes for an awesome second set of hands when I do frame installations.
I am mother of a son who's first 18 years flew by, and of a daughter who is a dancer and in the sixth-grade. My kiddos are nothing alike, but equally fantastic, and of course, my favorite humans on the planet. You may even see my son occasionally assist with installations, or my daughter peek her head into the studio as she loves babies just as much as I do.
When I'm not behind the camera, I'm usually spending my weekends at dance competitions or in my garden. My heart is in my business, but my hands can often be found covered in soil.
My family is everything to me, just like yours is to you.
When I was in the 5th grade, a small group of friends and I made up a dance to perform at our school talent show to the song, “Every Little Step” by Bobby Brown.
We were a group of girls who lived in the same apartment complex that was filled with neighborhood kids. Weekday afternoons and weekends were filled with the sounds of kids laughing and playing, echoing through the courtyards of the complex. And when we'd get together, we forced a good bunch of those kids to watch us dance.
We were terrible. We couldn’t get it together to agree on choreography, we argued, and we never finished the routine. Guess you could say we had, “creative differences” as they say in the industry. We didn’t end up performing in the talent show and my dreams of becoming a "Fly Girl" were gone.
When I look back at that time, and even reminisce with friends in that group, the audacity of it all is hilarious to me. Some of us had no rhythm, and no one ever practiced. What were we even going to wear? Our parent’s sure weren’t gonna buy us new outfits for a 3-minute bit on an elementary school stage. How did we ever expect to win?
None of that mattered.
We were just a group of kids with a collective dream and a love for pop music and Bobby Brown.
Remember what that was like? To have a fantastic idea and just jump in with both feet, carefree?
I’m sure you’re thinking, “girl, what does this have to do with photography?”.
A lot. Imagine all of the times you would have scheduled your next portrait session but hesitated because you didn’t want to deal with every little step.
You've lost that desire to do something that would make your heart want to dance because the steps in the process were just too much to deal with or there just wasn't enough time.
I see you mama. The thought of coming up with all the planning, the who, what, when where, can make you forget about the WHY.
But you’re well aware of the why, so let me take care of the rest.
I’ll even show you a few steps from that routine if that’s what it takes.
From the butterfly flutters in your tummy to the tiny toes, heartwarming giggles, and bright adoring eyes of your one-year-old. These are memories of my babies I cherish and these are the memories I will capture for your family. My sessions are laid-back, fun, and most of all, stress-free. My goal is to make this an experience for you and your family one that you love and reflect on fondly so when you look at your images you remember the warmth of your baby's cuddles and the soft touch of their tiny hands.
I would love some time to meet with you to show you my space, discuss our full-service process, and share all the fancy details. Ready to meet in person?
"We recently did a newborn/family session with Reaj shortly after our 3rd baby was born. I have had newborn photos taken of each of my children, but this was by far the smoothest and least stressful experience I have had so far. She planned everything out perfectly. She even met with me in advance to help plan our wardrobe choices. She was clearly very experienced and took such beautiful photos of our new baby and our family. I am very pleased with the results of our session and I know I will treasure the photos we received forever. I will not hesitate to work with her again in the future."
