It is such a bittersweet moment when one of the babies enrolled my First Year Collective photo session series turns one. It is a happy time for all but it is a little sad when I realize the periodic visits to my studio will become less frequent as these sweet babies grow. By this time, families have spent the first year of the baby’s life documenting such a special milestones such as their baby growing in their tummy, the days after their child’s birth, their baby sitting up independently, crawling, and even walking. Their little seed has grown up so quickly in front of their very eyes and the ending of this first year is definitely something to celebrate. I relish the opportunity to be included in photographing such precious little lambs. To round out the first year photo sessions, we conclude with a birthday celebration portrait session. This includes simple, organic portraits of baby with full access to my studio wardrobe, a customized cake and decorations, ending with a little splish-splash in a warm bubble bath. If your baby is walking, this session will definitely keep you on your toes because little legs move fast!
Of course, there was a delicious rosette style cake by Custom Created Cakes by Brandi was included with Leelai’s First Birthday Celebration session. What’s a great cake smash session when if it doesn’t include simply picking up your cake to dump it over on the floor to enjoy? Half the fun of eating cake is being able to grip your tiny hands into the frosting and squeeze the cake between your tiny fingers…and heck, why not toss some cake around the studio too?
