One of my favorite things about being a newborn photographer in the Chandler area, is the fact that parents – friends of the community – entrust me with handling, posing, and photographing their tiny new babies. The fact that I may be one of the very first and few individuals to hold these newborns does not fall lightly. It is something I am truly honored to have had the privilege. Baby Remie Colette was born a few weeks shy of her due date but was perfectly round, healthy, and ready for the world. Posing her into cuddly positions was made so easy as she was such a heavy sleeper – her tummy was full of milk and we were sure to keep her warm during her session. Her mommy provided us with milk and a pacifier so it was a tad easier to get her to fall back asleep when she did wake. With just a few swigs of milk or suckles from her binkie she was out like a light again.
I had the pleasure of also welcoming into the studio my dear friend and photography assistant for the day, Erin Hicks of E.L. Hicks Photography located in Gilbert. Erin also has copious amounts of experience photographing newborns and her studio also specializes in newborn and family portrait photography. You may have even seen her featured on the East Valley Moms Blog. I met Erin through one of my photography mentors, Leah Remillet of The Thriving Photographer. I was so happy when she agreed to join me in my Chandler studio to assist me during Remie’s newborn photography session. If you follow me on Periscope, you may have even seen Erin filming me during Remie’s session which had portions live streamed. It was so nice having another experienced set of hands with me in the studio. She helped to keep Remie asleep, holding her dainty little hands, fingers and feet in poses so she wouldn’t startle and spotted her while I made camera and posing adjustments. I definitely became spoiled with having Erin work alongside me and hope we can get together again soon to support each other’s photography studios.

It was the warmest weekend of the year, but we still braved the elements during a brief desert sunset maternity session and the portraits are gorgeous!
